New UK border rules

From 15 February, the rules for self-isolating, quarantining and testing are changing:

You cannot currently enter the UK if you’ve been in or through a country on the banned travel list (sometimes known as the ‘red list’) in the last 10 days, unless you’re British, Irish or you have the right to live in the UK. Travel on P&O Ferries for anyone who has been in or through a country on the banned travel 'red list' will not be permitted.

France and the Netherlands are not on the banned list and we are continuing to run our passenger services for all essential travel reasons but you'll need to:

  • complete a passenger locator form
  • provide proof of a negative coronavirus test (PCR taken in the 72 hours prior to travel)
  • On arrival you will need to self-isolate at home for 10 days and book a mandatory 2 COVID-19 test package via the gov.uk portal. All international arrivals must book a travel test package – this costs £210. You must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 for variant surveillance and a test on or after day 8 to check that you do not have COVID-19.

Use the booking portal to book your travel test package (this is administered by CTM)

If you’re experiencing any difficulty booking through the booking portal, please phone +44 (0)1274 726424.

Find out more about what you’ll need to do before you leave for the UK because of coronavirus.

Your passport or identity card will be checked when you arrive at a UK port or airport to make sure you’re allowed to come into the country. It should be valid for the whole of your stay.

You may also need a visa to come into or travel through the UK, depending on your nationality.

Travel between Larne and Cairnryan and Liverpool and Dublin

Travel between the UK and Ireland and between Northern Ireland and is part of the the Common Travel Area and if you have not left the Common Travel Area for the past 10 days, you do not need a test before leaving or to home quarantine and take tests after arriving.
