Will it take longer at border control after Brexit?

Brexit border checks

All the information you need to help you prepare for travel can be found here.

When you arrive at EU border control after the 1st January 2021, British citizens may have too:

  • show a return or onward ticket

  • show you have enough money for your stay

  • use separate lanes from EU, EEA and Swiss citizens when queuing

You will need to declare cash of £10,000 or more (or the equivalent in another currency) if you take it between the UK and any other country. To check the guidance or obtain an online form, click here.

There are some restrictions in place on the ability to transport some food items into Europe from the UK. Find out more here.

If you are leaving or entering the UK temporarily, including on a business trip, you do not need to declare your laptop or mobile phone to customs.

Coronavirus border checks

Travelling abroad has changed since the Coronavirus pandemic please make sure you are fully updated on the entry requirements for the UK and Europe, and have the relevant paperwork to hand ready for border control. Delays may occur during peak times due to extra border control health checks.
