HELP CENTRE

Which pets can travel?

Dogs, cats or ferrets are allowed to travel on our ships, as long as they meet all the EU entry requirements - with the exception of our Liverpool Dublin route where unfortunately we are not able to accept pets.

You are not able to use the existing pet passport scheme when travelling to Europe or Northern Ireland with your pet. Instead you’ll need to follow a different process in advance of travel. You should visit your vet one month before travelling as your dog, cat or ferret will require a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination and an animal health certificate.

For more information on the new animal health certificate (AHC) process and guidance about pet travel to Europe and Northern Ireland from 1st January 2021, visit the gov.uk site or our dedicated Brexit pet page.

As all pets must stay inside the vehicle during the crossing on our Dover to Calais route (except guide dogs), or you can upgrade to our Pet Lounge, where you and your dog can travel together with comfortable seating, an outdoor area, and snacks and drinks. We’ve put together a few tips on how to make the journey as comfortable and hassle-free as possible for both you and your pet. Visit our travelling with a pet page for more details - you can select which route you are travelling on at the top of the page for route specific guidance.

If you are travelling on our Hull to Rotterdam route, pets must either be booked in to our kennels or alternatively you can select a Dog Friendly Cabin for you and your pet. Please note dogs must remain in the cabin at all times - except guide or assistance dogs. Find out all the information you need to know when travelling with your pet on our Hull to Rotterdam route here.
