Located high on top of The White Cliffs of Dover and surrounded by greenery overlooking Dover town, it’s within easy reach via a short 5 minute drive from the Port of Dover. Home to the most iconic of English fortresses, Dover Castle is arguably one of the most famous castles in England. Discover thousands of years of history, step back in time into medieval life or explore the secret wartime tunnels buried deep underground in the white cliffs. With plenty of facilities on site, you could easily spend a day here exploring this important part of British history. Dover Castle offers plenty of things to do for kids and adults alike, from interactive exhibits to the new escapes rooms, Dove Castle has entertainment for all.
Looking for somewhere to stretch your legs? Head to either South Forelands lighthouse for impressive views over the channel or take a short drive along the A20 towards Folkestone and you’ll find Samphire Hoe nature reserve, a perfect place for a family stroll. You can even let your furry friends stretch their legs – please remember dogs must be kept on leads when in the nature reserve.
There are plenty of bars, cafes and shops in Dover town centre along with some great places to eat and drink along the seafront. With facilities in and around the port of Dover, rest assured you won’t be short of places to visit in and around Dover.
