Calais port has great links to a variety of different places to visit. If you only have an hour or so, head on a short walk south from the port and you’ll find golden sands and colourful beach huts along the Plage de Calais.
If you’d prefer to head a little further afield drive 40 minutes north of the port to discover Dunkirk, a town widely known for one of the most courageous evacuation ordeals of World War II. Dunkirk has plenty to offer families, couples and solo travellers. From the Museum Dunkerque 1940 and art galleries like Lieu d’Art, to strolls along the beach Dunkirk offers a variety of things to do.
For family fun, drive 35 minutes south of the port and you’ll find the wonderful seaside town of Boulogne-sur-Mer, home to the largest aquarium in Europe - Nausicaa. With live feeding, touch tanks and plenty of interactive features, you and the whole family are sure to enjoy a visit here!
You’ll also find there are plenty of camping sites dotted around the surrounding area of Calais, perfect location for a stop off overnight to rest.
